The Bridges of Madison County

Meryl Streep has been one of the top most choices of directors to play a role of aged woman in romantic roles. She did not lose charm even after her 40s and still she plays romantic roles in the woman of age grouping 40 to 50. Clint Eastwood must be searching for the leading lady looks sexy in the age around 40s , beautiful, good actor and the lady whom people like to see on the screen. Through Bridges of Madison County , the writer has tried to justify the lust of a middle aged woman towards city, her dreams and extra marital sex. A woman is surrounded by silence , among caring people, peaceful life but it lacks excitement, negligible opportunity to pursue her dreams , packed with routine work. Suddenly, if somebody comes in her life, its easiest to make a room in her heart. She even permits herself to sleep with a stranger, live a few days like newly married young couple who just indulged in satisfying sexual desire which was gone from her life. She came from Italy to fulfil her dreams in America but unfortunately she came to Iowa which is nothing but farmers' field . Everybody knows everybody , very caring and organised. But no excitement is left in the life. She decided to leave her children of 17 and 16 years of age and a very caring husband just to come out of Iowa's farming field and live a city life where somebody would be supporting her to do what she always wanted. The writer did not give American ladies to give an opportunity to think wrong within themselves and to do dishonesty with their husband and family , so at last the consciousness of the lady awoke and cancel her future plans with the stranger , now the best friend of her life. But she kept her love alive while performing her duties towards her family. She did not let her love forgettable and till death she was in love with the stranger who just came to her eventually for four days.
She wrote a will for her children and desired to be cremated and instructed that her ashes should be spread on one of the bridges of Madison county where she spent wonderful moments of her life with the stranger ( Robert- Clint Eastwood). Initially her son and daughter , thought her mother a characterless , but reading her notes and diaries ... they understood the emotion of  their deceased mother , her love towards children , her fulfilled duties towards her husband and her love towards Robert. They did what was written in her will and found a new zeal of love within themselves towards their families.


The movie is excellent and must be seen by those who are affected by the dishonesty of their husbands and wives. But it does not justify the wilful adulterous nature of couples and their attraction towards extra marital. A perfect movie for movie buffs. Clint Eastwood was the director of the movie , he could take somebody else instead of him but Meryl Streep was the best choice. Her body was perfectly shown in the movie. The only backdrop of the movie is ......... couples may justify their unjustifiable extra marital affairs.
